The Counseling Basics

What is Counseling?

Counseling is an opportunity to meet with a counselor who can help guide you through difficult emotions and situations. Counselors are trained in how to build coping skills and help students build insight so they can develop perseverance and resilience. Counseling is confidential, which means that whatever you share in counseling is not shared with others. The only time counselors must share information is if you are thinking about harming yourself or others, or if you are in danger or being harmed. People who see counselors usually go once a week for thirty minutes.
You can also drop by and see a counselor even if you aren’t formally in counseling.
